What affects the price
- Engine size and whether the car takes long-life or specialist oil
- Whether the service follows the manufacturer's schedule or a garage's own checklist
- Which filters are due — air, pollen, fuel — as these are not all replaced every time
- Whether the garage is VAT registered, since a non-registered garage is genuinely cheaper
When a cheap price is a warning
A full service priced close to an oil change usually is one. Ask for the checklist in writing, because 'full' is not a regulated term and it means different things at different garages.
