Compare the exact tyre and the fitted total, rather than choosing from two headline prices. A quote is much easier to judge when every included item is visible.
Match the specification
Give each supplier the same vehicle details and ask it to confirm the correct size, load and speed ratings. Record the proposed tyre manufacturer and model. “Premium tyre” or “budget tyre” alone does not identify a product you can compare.
If you are comparing a mobile visit with a workshop appointment, make that distinction explicit. The visit itself can affect the total.
Ask for the complete price
Kwik Fit's tyre information says its online fitted price includes the tyre, VAT, replacement valve, balancing and disposal, while mobile fitting may add a charge. Use that as a checklist when asking other suppliers what their own quote includes.
Ask for:
- The number of tyres and the exact model being supplied.
- The total for fitting and balancing.
- Valve or tyre-pressure-monitoring-system work, if applicable.
- Old-tyre disposal and any mobile call-out charge.
- VAT where applicable and any other fee before checkout.
Ask separately whether alignment is included, recommended or simply being offered. Request an explanation of the finding before adding another service.
Save the quote
Keep a copy showing the specification and final total. If the supplier substitutes a different tyre, ask for its details and the revised price before agreeing.
