For a battery replacement or oil change, ask for a quote tied to your vehicle. A price for a part on a shelf is not necessarily the total for a completed job.
Battery replacement
Ask whether the garage will test the battery and charging system before recommending a replacement. The AA explains that its technicians check for underlying faults and price the battery separately from fitting and removal, with fitting terms depending on membership.
Request the battery specification, fitting cost, disposal arrangements and warranty. Ask whether your particular vehicle needs any setup or registration procedure after installation, and whether that work is included.
A useful written request is: “Please confirm the correct battery for my car, test whether replacement is needed, and quote the complete fitted total including any required setup.”
Oil and filter change
Ask for the oil specification, quantity, filter and labour to be included. Confirm whether disposal and VAT where applicable are already in the total.
The Car Care Centre in Dingle lists oil/filter work separately from its servicing packages. If you are also buying a service, check whether the same oil change is already covered.
Compare the result you are buying
For both jobs, record the vehicle details, included work, exclusions and total. If further faults are found, ask for a separate proposal and approve it before additional work begins.
